The Maintenance role is essential for the smooth running of our chalet operations. It is a varied job as you will respond to issues as and when they arise. These are wide-ranging, from a squeaky door to broken down boiler, and everything in between. We occasionally call outside contractors for help but hope to do as much as we can in-house. You will also be responsible for the upkeep of our hot tubs and vehicles.
Job Specification
We have one Maintenance person in each of our resorts: Val d'Isere, Courchevel and La Tania. Because La Tania is a smaller resort, this role is also combined with the Resort Support position here. Maintenance is a varied job as you deal with problems in the chalets and staff accommodation as and when they come up.
Chalet Maintenance
Day-to-day issues arise such as blocked sinks, temperamental dishwashers and fused electrics. You will respond to these as and when they are reported by chalet hosts and guests.
Hot tub maintenance
Some of our chalets have hot tubs. You will regularly check chemical levels and drain/re-fill these on changeover days.
Driving
During the week you will work alongside the Resort Support to help with deliveries of food and wine and on Sundays you will help with luggage handling.
A typical day
You will work split shifts every day. In the morning you will work from approximately 8am-11am.
You are then free to ski or do as you please during the day. You will return to work in the evening and work from around 5-8pm.
Whilst at work, you will respond to maintenance issues as and when they are reported to you. You will keep accurate records of all jobs.
During the week you will help with resort tasks such as delivering food and wine to Chalet Hosts on our resort 'shopping day'.
You will thoroughly check resort vehicles once weekly and keep records of any changes. You will maintain vehicles by checking oil and water levels regularly.
During heavy snow fall you will help with snow clearing - making safe access paths for guests to chalets.
On Sunday, which is our changeover day, you will help collect and deliver luggage from chalets to transfer buses. We do this so guests don't have to carry their bags through the snow.
Requirements
An ideal candidate is...
Organised - you must have good time management to keep on top of all your jobs.
A team player - you will be working closely with managers and chalet hosts so you need to be cooperative.
Adaptable - you need to be open-minded as you never know when maintenance issues will arise.
You must have held a full driving licence for at least 2 years. We provide winter driver training.
We will look for relevant qualifications and work experience in plumbing or electrics and knowledge of vehicle and household repairs.
You should be available from late November to mid-April.
