SCOPE OF POSITION Your role will be responsible for creating and developing innovative, seasonal and exciting cocktails for Guards Bar and at times other outlets across the Raffles London OWO.
Working closely with bar mangers to develop menus, staff training and stock control. The role involves the ability to pre-empt and deliver a luxurious and high-quality level of service whilst managing delivery and service targets ensuring a smooth and consistent service, surpassing the guests’ expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES (OR AREAS OF RESPONSIBLITIES FOR SENIOR POSITIONS) Operation - Leading the beverage programme in the bars and working with the Head of Bars and Bar Managers in ensuring the menus and drinks offering is relevant, innovative and creative as well as the perfect execution.
- Working with the leadership team to ensure standards are set and kept.
- Recruiting, training, and managing all members of the bar teams.
- Working hands on across all bars and beverage outlets.
- Detailed and precise order taking and communication with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Building and developing good guest relations including problem solving and complaint handling.
- Preparing the department for service and managing time sensitive targets.
- Work closely with the wider food and beverage team.
- Additional responsibilities in absence of line manager or senior employee.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned including working in a different department or restaurant, than usually assigned.
Leadership - To be a hands-on leader and mentor for your team and the wider hotel.
- To manage and take responsibilities for the coaching and development of the Guards Bar and Guards bar team, including conducting regular one-to-ones and annual appraisals
- To attend and represent the department at management meetings etc as required
- To support the team and assist with trouble shooting and resolving client and guest challenges as needed
- To strive for high standards across the department and to suggest and implement improvements where needed
Health and Safety - Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified
- Be fully conversant with all departmental Fire, Emergency and BOMB procedures
- Emergency procedures are rehearsed regularly with attendance records, implemented and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees
- Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises, by strict adherence to existing laws, statues and applicable ordinances, and by anticipating possible and probable hazards and conditions and either correcting them or pre-planning a defence against them
- Stimulate and encourage a general awareness of Health and Safety in relation to all tasks and activities undertaken in the department
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Essential - Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English, both verbal and written.
- Recent experience within in luxury bars or a similar role
- Market knowledge of competitors and event industry trends
- Strong food and beverage knowledge
- Enthusiasm and commitment to delivering and offering the best service and experiences possible in any situation
- Proven track record of surprising and delighting guests to provide exceptional service
- Able to work within a team
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- To be detail-oriented
Desirable - Previous experience in cocktail bar and luxury beverage service.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a team.
- An understanding of the luxury sector.
- A passion for hospitality
