SECOND CHEF - INDEPENDENT GARDEN CENTRE - BASED IN THE NEW FOREST, NEAR LYMINGTON - £25,000 TO £28,000 SALARY (DOE) - NO LATE NIGHTS

We are assisting in the recruitment of a chef to join the catering team at this independent garden centre and nursery based in the New Forest.
The venue has undergone extensive refurbishment over the past couple of years and developed a good reputation for offering a good variety of fresh, seasonal dishes alongside regular menu staples, the company are looking to appoint a second chef to support the Head Chef and work closely with the existing team and provide support with both cooking and complying with legislation and company policies. Duties will include:

Covering all aspects of the kitchen, completing preparation and service requirements

Lead the kitchen in the absence of the kitchen manager and become part of the leadership team for the catering department

Ensure all paperwork is accurately completed, ensuring stock is properly labelled and rotated as required

Complete order requirements and carry out regular stock checks as required

Liaise with management to put specials and new menu ideas forward

Liaise with other department heads to ensure promotion of restaurant

Ensure staffing rota is accurately up to date with adequate cover in place for the business

Train junior team members on all sections of the kitchen
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work in a friendly and popular garden centre, the restaurant seats approximately 100 people, with a well-equipped kitchen. We are looking for someone who has a background in catering and commercial kitchen exposure, you will:

Have a good understanding of all kitchen sections, including pastry section

Be well organised and able to plan and execute your daily requirements

Have an excellent attention to detail, ensuring all required paperwork is kept up to date

Be able to communicate across different divisions and speak professionally to customers

Can work on your own, as well as being part of a small team
The company is an independent, well-established venue, they are offering a full-time permanent position, circa 40-hour contract with a starting salary up to £28,000 (d.o.e) and opportunities for development.
Because of the location of this venue, the applicant must have access to a vehicle, free parking is provided.
