Our client, a leading engineering instrument production company is looking for a Software Design Engineer to work in tandem with our development set-up. Firmware development and customer-driven software design development would be a large part of the role.
This role would be suited to university graduates or candidates who have recently entered the engineering industry and at the start of their career. Working on-site in office-based and other engineering environments, you will have opportunities to gain further practical experience in both embedded firmware design and PC-based application development.
The successful candidate would be required to complete a security check before placement commencement.

As an Embedded Software Design Engineer your role will include:
- Design and build firmware software solutions for products that operate to a high level of precision
- Produce documentation for designs and maintain records of all designs and operational procedures
- Aid in the development of software solutions for company products as part of an agile multidisciplinary engineering team.
- To document designs and maintain clear records of all work in accordance with procedures.
- Provide support to customers both internally and externally with relevant system issues.
- To carry out other tasks as may be requested from time to time by the Engineering Director.
You must have the following skills & experience for the role of Embedded Software Design Engineer
- The ability to think logically & laterally, analyse a problem & provide unique solutions to IT
- Must have an Engineering and/or Computer Science degree (2:1) or equivalent qualification
- Good team working skills with a good
customer-focused
outlook
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a software developer role
In addition to the above, the following skills would be advantageous:
- Experience developing with C# language essential to the role
- Ability to work to timelines essential for the role
- Ideally candidate will have a history of working with embedded micro-controllers
- Ability to produce and deliver a full software lifecycle experience (documentation, design, development, testing, revision control systems and maintenance)
- Previous working experience using Visual Studio and Visual GDB extensions
- Ability to carry out review of electronic schematics
- Must have good communication skills and interpersonal soft skills
- Candidate must have previous experience working within teams using Agile principle
