Wanted - a graduate QS for an upbeat, down to earth but highly experienced commercial office, where Kentucky fried chicken is frequently consumed.
The Company
Joking aside my client is a highly successful and stable national main contractor/house builder who is now looking to add a recent grad to their 15+ Leeds based commercial team.
In addition to being a developer they are also exposing you to experience working with clients (housing associations).
The commercial team have years of experience to offer you as mentors - you would be learning from some of the best QS's in the business.
They encourage promotion within and are also part of a larger company if you ever wished to relocate, or move into the main contracting side.
The Role
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, your duties may include the following:

Assist with cost estimates and cost plans for construction projects by providing accurate measurements and cost analysis.

Assist with tendering strategies, tender analysis and subcontractor selection.

Assist in producing Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Works and Specifications for construction projects.

Participate in risk management activities, including assessing the impact of cost elements on project risks and opportunities.

Assist with preparing and maintaining project budgets, cost reports and cash flows, ensuring that they are kept up-to-date and that any variances are reported to senior management.

Attend project meetings and liaise with site managers, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders ensuring all parties are up-to-date on project progress and costs.

Assist in the administration of construction contracts, including preparing and negotiating contract documents, variations and change orders.

Assist in maintaining project records and documents in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.

Develop and maintain knowledge of new technologies and techniques in project management, construction methods, and materials.

Build a professional network and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.

Looking for someone who has graduated with either a quantity surveying or construction management degree in 2022 or 2023

Must be highly committed, driven and passionate

Must have get up and go and be not afraid to address difficult situations with client and subcontractors

Must have a UK Driving Licence
