Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting a Energy Senior Software Engineer Control and Automation on a 6+ Month contract based in Hybrid based in Stone.

This position is INSIDE IR35

Summary of Role We are looking for enthusiastic & experienced engineers to join our existing Energy team to perform all aspects software design, development and implementation for PLC based control and/or SCADA systems. The role will require the successful candidate work in a team on all aspects of a project lifecycle for the delivery of PLC and SCADA/DCS systems primarily in the renewable power generation and storage industry. Projects include upgrades of systems to latest versions, modification of systems for extensions and improvements as well as new build projects. The candidate should have proven main-stream control automation experience across several previous projects utilising the technology platforms listed below.

Essential Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience using at least one of the following technologies:-
Siemens PCS7 Automation Stations
Siemens TIA Portal for S7 PLCs

Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix utilising Studio 5000
Schneider M580/M340 utilising EcoStruxure Control Expert
- Minimum 5 years experience /Advanced SCADA Configuration skills using at least one of the following applications:
Siemens PCS7 OS
COPA-DATA Zenon
Siemens WinCC
Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
Codra Panorama
- Experience of producing Function Design Specifications, System/Detailed Design Specifications and Test Specifications
- Experience of writing software to IEC61131 utilising ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart and structured text.
- Experience of performing Internal and Customer Factory Acceptance Tests
- Experience of leading a small project or a sub team of a large project
- Experience reviewing the work of others
- Knowledge of project lifecycle working to QA procedures
- Willingness to travel and work away when required
- Full UK Driving licence

Required Qualifications

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of related work experience in Quality or Manufacturing environment, or 5+ years of related work experience in Quality or Manufacturing environment.
Fluent in English.
Experience in using manual and automated measurement and test equipment for dimensional inspection activities.
Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.

Desired Requirements / Experience

Experience of communication protocols including:-
Profibus/Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC (phone number removed), IEC 61850, DNP3 etc
Experience of virtualisation utilising VMWare or HyperV
Experience Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Domain Configuration
Experience of delivering cyber secure systems to IEC 62443.

Confident and capable and able to work under own initiative and within a team environment
Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
Have good verbal and written communication skills
Be flexible in working methods
